A casual way to spend time together this summer

Whether you’ve been at Central West End Church for years or you’re new and just want to explore some iconic St. Louis activities, these gatherings are meant to be easygoing and welcoming. Bring friends or come solo, to one event or all of them!

Post Worship Service Cookout

Sunday, July 19th

12:00pm-1:30pm

Stick around after the worship service for lunch provided by the church. We will have hot dogs, brats, watermelon, chips, and drinks! This is a great opportunity to continue our pursuit of renewal by deepening our friendships. Please RSVP HERE.

The MUNY - Newsies

Tuesday, July 21

Meetup starts: 6pm (bring dinner to picnic in line)
Free seats open: 7pm
Show begins: 8:15pm

Join us for a fun evening at the MUNY! We’ll gather together, picnic while waiting in line, and enjoy the Newsies from the free seats. No RSVP is needed. Just show up and look for the group!

The Plan

  • Meetup time: 6pm - Bring a picnic dinner and enjoy time together while we wait in line for free seats.

  • Free seats open: 7pm - Once the seats open, we’ll head in and find our spots together.

  • Show begins: 8:15pm

    After we’re seated, there is still about an hour before the show starts. Many people bring permitted drinks, snacks, and even games to enjoy while waiting. Show programs are available online.

    Snacks and drinks are also available for purchase inside the MUNY, but lines can be long and prices are higher than bringing your own.

What to Bring

  • A picnic dinner to enjoy while waiting in line

  • Permitted drinks and snacks for before and during the show (see what you can’t bring here)

  • A lightweight folding chair (chairs are helpful while waiting in line from 6–7pm)

  • Any picnic supplies or games you’d like to enjoy with the group

    Important: Right before the free seats open at 7pm, everyone will return chairs and picnic supplies to their cars before entering the seating area.

Finding the Group and Parking

  • The free seat entrance lines are located in the upper parking lot. Look for one of the two marked free-seat entrances on this map. We’ll gather near one of these entrances starting at 6pm. Call Bekah Dumm (443.686.0770) or Candace Blackwelder (314.224.4539) to find the group!

  • Free parking is available around the MUNY. Find detailed information here.

  • Helpful tip: Arrive as close to 6pm as possible if you’d like to sit together with the group. The earlier you arrive, the better chance we have of staying together!

Food Truck Friday - Tower Grove Park

Meetup starts: 5pm

Event ends: 8pm

An easy drop-in event with lots of exciting food options, space to spread out, and live music. Make sure to bring a blanket or lawn chair. No RSVPs needed.

Stiller Return Potluck

Sunday, August 16th

Right after the worship service (12pm-1:30pm)

A casual post-church meal to welcome Eric and Jenny back from their sabbatical!

Picnic on Art Hill + Free Friday at SLAM

Friday, August 28th

Meetup starts: 5pm

Pack a picnic and enjoy the evening together before exploring St. Louis Art Museum during Free Friday. Make sure to bring a blanket or lawn chair. No RSVPs needed.

SLSO Forest Park Concert

Wednesday, September 16th

Meetup starts: 6pm

Music begins: 7pm

Enjoy the St. Louis Symphony Orchestra in this annual tradition. Bring a blanket or chairs and dinner to enjoy while listening to music. Food and drink also available for purchase. No RSVPs needed.
